Actors and social media influencers Priya Mohan and Nihal Pillai have opened up about a difficult phase they faced in their marriage in the past. However, the couple credits Priya’s sister Poornima and her husband-actor Indrajith for their timely interference which helped them sit down together and have a conversation about their relationship. Nihal and Priya spoke about their personal life in a video that was posted on their YouTube channel.
“Three years ago, a big fight happened between us; you could call it a mid-life crisis. We even consulted lawyers after that. There weren’t any particular reason why we fought. We were frustrated and short-tempered. Besides, our financial situation too wasn’t really favourable,” Nihal recalled the phase and added how both of them started facing issues after the birth of their son.
“Anu (Poornima) and Indrettan spoke to both of us. It would have ended in divorce if we hadn’t talked openly to each other. They advised us to solve our problems through conversation and to give it a bit more time,” says Priya.
Nihal said it was impulsive and reckless to consider divorce. “These days, getting a divorce is easy, especially when one is egoistic and has financial freedom. People find it difficult to solve issues,” he said. Nihal believes one does not always have to spent time in each other's company to make relationships better. “Our relationship started healing after Priya became busy with work,” he said.
Priya opened up about her postpartum depression and how staying at home full time affected her after the birth of their child. “I was acting in television serials when I got married and was often busy. However, after Vedu’s (son) birth, I began spending time at home. Besides, I was also going through a postpartum phase. We fought a lot during that time,” said Priya. However, the couple is happy now and Priya, who has taken a break from serials, is busy with her business venture.
