After the mega-success of 'Kurup', young actor Dulquer Salmaan will be collaborating again with director Sreenath Rajendran for 'Alexander'. However, the makers noted that this movie is not a sequel to 'Kurup'. In the climax of 'Kurup', Dulquer appears as a character called Alexander. Meanwhile, the actor would be donning the same look in the new movie too.
The official announcement of 'Alexander' is likely to be made on the fiftieth day of the release of 'Kurup'. The movie might go on floors in 2022.
'Kurup' that was released on 12 November became the biggest hit in Dulquer Salmaan’s career. The movie that had hit the screens soon after the theatres were reopened when the COVID 19 restrictions were lifted, ushered in a renewed energy for Malayalam cinema. The film got record openings in Tamil and Telugu too.
Sreenath Rajendran who had directed Dulquer in his debut movie Second Show had helmed 'Kurup' that was made on a whopping budget of Rs 35 crore. The movie was jointly bankrolled by Dulquer’s Wayfarer Films and M Star Entertainments.
The story of the movie was by Jithin K Jose while the screenplay and dialogues were penned by Daniel Sayooj Nair and KS Aravind. Nimish Ravi handled the camera. Sushin Syam’s music was top-notch. Vini Vishwalal too had associated with the project as creative director. Banglan who had won the national award for production design for 'Kammarasambhavam' did a fabulous job in 'Kurup' too. Meanwhile, another national award winner Vivek Harshan is the editor.
Shobitha Dhulipala who made her debut in Malayalam through Moothon essayed the female lead in the movie. 'Kurup' boasts of an ensemble cast of Indrajith, Sunny Wayne, Shine Tom Chacko, Vijaraghavan, P Balachandran, Surabi Lakshmi and Shivajith Padmanaban.
