A few parts of the country is witnessing torrential rainfall and floods and many have died and millions displaced.
Several celebs were seen engaged in flood-relief activities and some were seen promoting their upcoming movies as well.
Actress Nithya Menen who was busy promoting her movies on her social media page was trolled with many terming her act 'insensitive'. The actress has also been at the receiving end of comments suggesting that she is not making any effort to contribute in this hour of need when many are in distress owing to the inclement weather.
Nithya, on Monday, posted a video clarifying her stand and why she was not talking about the Kerala floods. She stated that she is someone who does not respond when people say certain things about her but this time she couldn't let it go as the comments were getting harsh.
“One should not assume that others are not doing anything if they are not posting anything on social media. I work in a certain way and I don't use social media for certain things. Activities in this regard on social media will be superficial and will be like a bid to show off that I have done something great,” she said.
Adding that she helps others, Nithya pointed out that her movie is releasing in three days and promotions are part of what she is supposed to do. “We never get paid to do promotions for a movie. It has to be done as an actor. That's not having fun or enjoying ourselves; that too is part of our work,” she said.
She also did not deter to ask the critics, “What have you done? If you can answer this question, honestly, may be you will never again post any negative comments or point fingers at others. I think when you point fingers at others, you don't have to look at yourself which is the need of the hour. Do consider this and be more kind, considerate and understanding.”
Nithya Menen will be making her Bollywood debut with 'Mission Mangal', which is slated to release on August 15. She will also be seen in TK Rajeev Kumar's next movie Kolambi.
