Samvrutha Sunil won the heart of Malayalam moviegoers through her very first film Rasikan directed by Lal Jose in 2004. Samvrutha's rustic appearance graced by wide eyes and long locks of hair was widely appreciated. The actress, who was shot to stardom quickly, tied the knot with an NRI physician and moved to the United States in November 2012 while she was at the top of her career.
After a break, the star reappeared before her fans through Mazhavil Manorama's popular television reality show 'Nayika Nayakan' as a jury member. But to the disappointment of many, Samvrutha returned with a neck-length hair, flamboyantly cropped around her round face.
Recently in an exclusive interview with Vanitha, Samvrutha disclosed the reason behind her haircut. The popular actor has reportedly donated her hair to manufacture wigs for children suffering from cancer.
“There is a non-governmental organisation in our locality, which works for the welfare of children who lost their hair following chemotherapy and those who lack hair by birth due to some genetic reasons,” Samvrutha said.
Adding to it, the star said that it was a beautician who suggested this idea to her during a casual parlour visit. “My beautician said at least three children could benefit from my hair if I was willing to donate. I decided to donate my hair immediately,” Samvrutha said.
Samvrutha said that though she feels confident in long hair, she wouldn't mind chopping it off it it would help others feel good.
Samvrutha was also seen in short hair in a photograph posted by her friend and popular Malayalam actor Mamta Mohandas.
