Shammi Thilakan urges AMMA to apologise

Actor Shammi Thilakan has come out in support of the four actresses who quit from the Malayalam movie artists' body AMMA. Talking to Manorama News, Shammi, recalled the injustice meted out to his father, the late actor Thilakan, by the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists.

“My father (Thilakan) was ousted from AMMA for all wrong reasons. He shared a special bond with Mohanlal and I expect a positive move from him. As he is the president of the association now, AMMA should accept its mistake and should apologise for defaming my father,” Shammi said on Saturday,

“When the four actresses resigned, I initially felt they shouldn't have done that. But then, you never know what they personally encountered. In fact, they have lit a spark that may bring a big change”, he said.

Leading actresses from the Malayalam film industry -- Rima Kallingal, Remya Nambeesan, Geetu Mohandas -- had resigned on Monday along with the victim of the February 2017 assault case in which actor Dileep was alleged to have been involved.
