Malayali lass Priya Prakash Varrier became an overnight internet sensation recently after her wink in the video song ‘Manikya Malaraya Poovi’ from the yet-to-be released film 'Oru Adaar Love' became viral.
The teenage actress has now bowled over young South Indian musician Anirudh Ravichander with the famous wink on the stage of a reality show run by a Tamil TV channel. 'Oru Adaar Love' stars Priya and Roshan Abdul Rahoof were the celebrity guests at the finale of the reality show.
When the host of the show requested Priya to play her famous wink, she was only happy to oblige. The audience and other guests on stage, including Anirudh and actress Andrea, encouraged Priya with a big round of applause. Furthermore, Priya and Roshan enacted the popular ‘gun' scene too from the teaser of the movie. Priya also sang two songs on stage which impressed the audience and Anirudh alike.
The palpable excitement among the Tamil audience proved that Priya’s fame was not just limited to her home state Kerala alone.
Many national TV channels had earlier telecast her interviews and millions of people on social media including celebrities shared her video clip.
Veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor had tweeted congratulating Priya.
Even though certain religious fringe groups filed cases against the young actress and the song ‘Manikya Malraya Poovi’ for allegedly hurting religious sentiments, the Supreme Court had recently cancelled all the FIRs registered against her, much to the relief of Priya and makers of the movie. The song ‘Manikya Malaraya Poovi’, which made Priya a national sensation, was shot and released on YouTube even before the actual filming of the movie began.
Priya’s now famous wink had made her the darling of Instagram as well, as the number of her followers skyrocketed within a short span of time. The teenage actor has in fact surpassed young superstar Dulquer Salman’s Instagram record for having the most number of followers in the Malayalam movie industry.
Priya is a first year B.Com student at the Vimala College, Thrissur.
