The super hit song 'Manikya Malaraya Poov' from the upcoming Omar Lulu directorial Oru Adaar Love has been embroiled in a controversy that the lyrics of the song allegedly hurt the religious sentiments of a section of people.
Meanwhile, Nelson Joseph, a young doctor, has satirized the entire controversy in a Facebook post by connecting it to the hit song 'Aluva Puzhayude Theerathu' from the blockbuster Nivin Pauly starrer Premam.
Nelson begins his funny post addressing Alphonse Puthren, the director of Premam, and chiding him for his 'audacious' portrayal of Church as a place where people flirt.
He wrote, "Church is a place to pray and in one of the scenes a Christian youth, also a choir member, is seen transgressing the etiquette of the church to approach a young woman and singing there.
He also 'blames' the director for the portrayal of the hero's aggressive overtures and the heroine's silent approval as something that hurts 'religious sentiments'.
"You made the hero sing and dance inside a church. So on multiple charges, you clearly have offended our religious sentiments, and thus you should apologize," Nelson wrote on his page.
Nelson has signed his Facebook post as UChri or 'Unarna Chistiyani' (an enlightened Christian). He even added a 'warning' for Lijo Jose Pellissery by hinting that the 'Angamaly Diaries' director may be his next 'victim'.
The controversy around the song from Oru Adaar Love erupted when certain groups in Telengana and Mumbai filed police complaints against the makers of the movie and 'wink' star Priya Varrier for hurting religious sentiments. Priya has now moved the apex court appealing to nullify the case filed against her.
