Tamil screen legend MGR all set for a comeback through 3D film

The movie on the legendary actor will be directed by A Arul Murthy.

Former chief minister of Tamil Nadu and the undisputed hero of the masses, M G Ramachandran or MGR who continues to live in the hearts of the Tamil people may make a comeback to the silver screens.

MGR will be seen as an animated character ‘Raju’ in the 3D animation movie, Africaavil Raju nearly three decades after his demise. The pooja function of the film was conducted at Chennai recently. Superstar Rajnikant did the first clap on the clap board while actor Kamal Haasan switched on the camera.

Raju was the name of the legendary character that MGR essayed in his mega hit movie Ulakam Chuttum Valiban. MGR had wished to return to the screens as the same character one more time, but the thespian bade farewell to this world without fulfilling the dream.

Meanwhile, Velu Films International who will bankroll the animation project has paid their respects to the ‘Puratchi Thalaivar’ by recreating Raju through animation.

The movie will be directed by A Arul Murthy. A video collage of the songs and dialogues from MGR’s movies were exhibited at the pooja event and the audience was clearly thrilled to watch the video.

They erupted into thunderous applause at each and every super hit scene of the legendary actor.
