Actor Parvathy's criticism of the Mammootty-starrer Kasaba as misogynist is akin to the Fascist reaction meted out to films like Sexy Durga and Padmavathi, writer-director Vyasan K P has said.
In a recent Facebook post, he said the members of the film fraternity should be wary of the ‘man hating’ activities by certain female film personalities and their organization, happening for quite some time.
"This is a different version of the harrow that is meted out to movies like Sexy Durga and Padmavathi. It is fascist to demand in the name of feminism that those which do not cater to their ideologies should either be attacked or banned," he said in the FB post in defense of the movie and its makers.
Actor Parvathy's statement that Kasaba was anti-woman and misogynist had stirred up a controversy. Speaking at an open forum as part of the ongoing International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) in Thiruvananthapuram, Parvathy had stated that she was disappointed by the movie in which a great actor was seen badmouthing women. Following this, the award winning actor had become a target of trolls by Mammootty fans.
Vyasan's post said Parvathy might or might not be a feminist but for her and the organization that she represents to dictate how a movie is to be made was a blatant violation of the freedom of expression. He says, “It is up to the director, screen writer and producer of Kasaba to decide on the kind of movie that they intend to make; not Parvathy or her organization.
