Roopesh Peethambaran apologizes for criticizing Nivin’s Tamil flick 'Richie'

Though Roopesh tried to clarify his stance, the Nivin Pauly fans were not ready to yield.

Fans are an actor’s greatest support, but at times their ‘admiration’ can go overboard, often pouncing on people who may criticize their favorite hero.

This time it is actor – director Roopesh Peethambaran who provoked Nivin Pauly fans by criticizing the actor’s latest release Richie. In one of his early Facebook posts Roopesh had praised Kannada actor Rakshit Shetty who had directed and acted in Ulidavaru Kandante, the super hit Kannada flick of which Richie is a remake.

He wrote that he had known Rakshit Shetty 'on a personal level' since his struggling days and have admired his work as an 'actor, writer and a director'. Roopesh’s comment that 'Ulidavaru Kandante is a superior work of art' and it was 'pretty hard to imagine how a masterpiece turned into a piece' certainly did not go down well with Nivin’s fans who lambasted him on his Facebook wall.

Though Roopesh tried to clarify his stance, the fans were not ready to yield. Roopesh even sought the help of Nivin saying that he 'was only praising Ulidavaru Kandante' and not criticizing his movie Richie.

Roopesh finally apologized for his posts as the wrath of Nivin’s fans continued to wreck havoc on his wall.

He wrote: “More than an actor and a director, I am a movie lover. And because of that I tend to react passionately to movies. But I am also a professional in the cinema industry. I did not consider my responsibility in that regard when I reacted on the Kannada movie ‘Ulidavaru Kandante’. I realize that impulsive reaction was a mistake which hurt a lot of people. That was never my intention. I apologize for the pain I may have caused due to this. I am sorry.”

Now that Roopesh Peethambaran has apologized, he hopes that it would make the fans of Nivin Pauly happy and at least refrain from hurling abuses at him on social media.
