Kochi: The Telugu superstar Rana Daggubati who conquered the Malayali hearts as the villainous Bahallaladeva in Baahubali, is all set to make his Malayalam debut with the K Madhu directorial historical drama Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma: The King of Travancore.
It was the actor himself who made the announcement about the movie through his twitter account; and also said that the movie's "pre–production is in progress".
The history hails king Anizham Thirunnal as the first Asian king to register a victory against foreign powers in a heroic naval battle. This battle also marks the end of the Dutch rule in India after they experienced defeat in the 'battle of Kulachal'. The movie which is made in the background of the battle of Kulacha will portray many epic moments in the life of Anizham Thirunnal Marthanda Varma.
The recently announced movie will have an impressive line of actors and technicians form the Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and the Hindi film industries. Actors from the UK and Holland will also be a part of the ensemble cast.
Robin Thirumala has prepared the script of Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma: The King of Travancore after years long meticulous research on the Kerala king and his life.
The movie boasts of few of the big names in India in the technical side including sound design by Oscar winner Resul Pookutty and action choreography by Peter Heine. R Madhi who is a popular cinematographer in Tamil and Telugu will wield the camera for this epic movie. Keeravani who tuned the soulful melodies of Baahubali will be composing the music; and editing is by Sreekar Prasad.
Manu Jagath who did the art direction of Baahubali: the Beginning will be a part of this movie. The songs are penned by K Jayakumar, Shibu Chakravarthy and Prabha Varma; while the special effects will be overseen by the famous VFX consultant and 3D animator Jeemon Pulleli. Prasad Kannan is the media content consultant.
Besides the major production houses of the five different cinema industries of India, the Cine Sithstidio an Macna Narium Production Company of Italy will also be the production partners of this mega movie which will be the most expensive movie ever made in Malayalam. Seven Arts Mohan is the line producer.
