Actor Dileep’s arrest has undoubtedly been a major setback for the Malayalam industry. While many have openly expressed their support for Dileep, some in the industry have also declared their solidarity with the attacked actress.
Earlier, at the Kerala state film awards ceremony, the Women in Cinema Collective started a campaign called 'Avalkkoppam', which means 'With Her'. Soon afterwards, many social media users too used the hashtag #Avalkoppam, which then started trending.

In response to the campaign, actor and mimicry artiste Koottickal Jayachandran took to Facebook and shared a post with the hashtag #Avalkoppam. But no, it’s not for the attacked actress, but for Dileep’s daughter, Meenakshi. Jayachandran shared a photo of Meenakshi with him and wrote: ‘This is Meenakshi Dileep. She is also a girl and I am with her.’ (sic.)

Dileep was arrested by the police for allegedly hiring goons to assault the actress and videotape the incident. The embattled star's fourth bail plea was rejected by a court in Angamaly Monday. The young actress was waylaid and assaulted in a moving car for hours on the night of February 17 in Kochi.
