Resul Pookutty records the magic of Thrissur Pooram

Thrissur: Oscar winner Resul Pookutty will record the magic of Pooram for the world. Over one hundred assistants will join the sound recording genius at the Pooram grounds with recording equipment and cameras imported from different countries.

Resul calls it a 'longing of ages.' The sound of musical instruments will be recorded separately as well as from the Pooram performance. They will be blended later.

He is also recording the fireworks.

The delight of Pooram musical instruments is relayed to the teeming crowds as if eight speakers deliver it around one person. Resul said he will the same technique he used in Slumdog Millionaire, which earned him the Oscar. Recording takes place on 182 ,tracks. Five different software are used to avoid lapses in the process.

Live and surround systems will copy even the most minute sound separately. Resul said he wanted to preserve the magic of sound at Pooram eternally for us and pass it on to those who have never had a chance to experience it.

Resul kept aside his hectic schedule for a week for the task. He said it was like a dream for him and had the good luck of a sponsor who doesn't care for a profit.
