Kerala Museum in Kochi is organising multiple events to enthrall and educate visitors this Saturday. The events are being held in light of the International Museum Day which is celebrated every year on May 18.

An ArtWalk through the museum's Gallery of Contemporary and Modern Art is scheduled at 10 am. Guiding the visitors through the exhibits will be by Aditi Nayar, the Director of Kerala Museum. The tour will be followed by a dance performance by artists Nivedita P Menon and Aparna Sreevalsan which will commence from 12 pm.

“Museum Week is an opportunity for museums worldwide to promote fun and educational cultural experiences across every genre. It is a unique unifying worldwide event. It generates traffic, fosters diversity, and opens up museums on the international platform and gives each museum the chance to champion its values,” says Nayar.

The Kerala Museum looks forward to “unlocking the secrets of 100 years of Indian Art ” and by portraying the story of Mangalabayi through the dance it commemorates its chosen theme for the week, Women in Art and Culture.

The Museum Day is organised by International Council of Museums (ICOM) in which several member museums from around the world participate. The theme for the entire year is “Museum as Cultural Hub: The Future of Tradition”.
