Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala's active cases COVID-19 cases reached 31,098 on Saturday after 5,944 more infections have been reported in a day.
The Test Positivity Rate (TPR) soared to 9.89% as the new cases were recorded after testing 60,075 samples.
Two districts – Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam – reported over 1,000 cases.
A total of 2,463 patients have recovered from the infection on Saturday.
The COVID-19-related toll reached 33 after 209 recent deaths and 49,547 previously undocumented ones were made officials by the health department, Health Minister Veena George said in a press release.
Of the newly reported cases, 5,479 had contracted the virus through contact while 80 had come from outside the state. Among the contact cases, the source of infection of 337 is yet to be traced.
There are 48 health workers among the new cases.
The state has reported 52,79,304 COVID-19 cases so far. Of them, 51,97,960 recovered.
There are are 6 wards in 5 local bodies across Kerala where the Weekly Infection Population Ratio (WIPR) is above 10%. Strict Covid restrictions are being implemented in these regions.

Quarantine and hospitalization
A total of 1,11,316 people are under observation across the state. Of them, 1,08,843 are under home or institutional quarantine while 2,473 are in hospitals across the state. A total of 265people were admitted in hospitals on Saturday.
Of the active cases, only 7% are currently hospitalized.
