Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Police have issued travel passes to 22,790 people who have applied for the same after a state-wide lock down came into effect on Saturday. Of the 2,55,628 applications received till 11am on Monday, 1,40,642 were rejected as the purpose of travel stated in them were found to be unnecessary.
State police chief Loknath Behera urged the people not to apply for the passes for unnecessary travels. The website for applying for the passes became functional around 5.30pm on Saturday.

Those employed in the manufacturing sector must be transported in a special vehicle by the contractor or hirer. The self-declaration form needs to be carried on your person in case of emergency travel. The pass is mandatory for those commuting to work, Behera informed.
Steps will be taken to ensure the safety of cops deployed in lockdown duty, he added. This is due to the increasing Covid cases amongst the police force.
