Kaduthuruthy: Democracy is at its vibrant best in India. No walk of life is untouched by various democratic processes always on in the vast country. For instance in the midst of a hectic election campaign, the candidate takes a break and goes straight to tie the nuptial knot! Soon, the bride not only joins the groom in canvassing for votes but also takes part in the valedictory function of the poll campaign.
This interesting juggling between wedding and poll campaign was witnessed during the wedding of D Vinod with Arathy in Kerala state earlier this week.
Vinod is the BJP candidate from Ward No 2 of Kallara Panchayat in Kottayam district. His wedding was on Monday. The auspicious time was 11:55am.
Vinod was hard-pressed for time on Monday as the vehicle campaign for his electioneering was also fixed on that day. After taking part in this event from 8:30am, Vinod returned home and proceeded to his bride's place along with his relatives by 10:30am.
After the wedding, the couple returned to Vinod's native place at Kallara. By 4:30pm the newly married couple hit the road as part of the campaign and even took part in the valedictory meeting.
Arathy has plans to campaign along with Vinod on Tuesday too.
The BJP candidate is reportedly sweating it out against his UDF and LDF rivals V G Janardhanan and Prasanna Kumar respectively. Independent candidates Prakash Kumar and Jomy Thottunkal are also trying their luck this time.
