Manjeri: Several heart-warming incidents are taking place in Kerala even amid the gloom cast by the COVID-19 pandemic. One such real-life story is from Manjeri, where the family of Kovilakamkundu Malavika is providing shelter to and showering love on her classmate, Lukmanul Sabah, a native of Agatti in Lakshadweep.
Malavika and Sabah together attended the entrance coaching classes at a training centre at Pookkolathur when the lockdown was announced. Malavika's parents Pradeep and Bindu had reached the hostel of the institution where she stayed to take the youngster home. There, they realized the plight of Sabah, who also lived in the hostel.
As all means of transportation to Lakshadweep were cancelled, Sabah was stranded at the hostel and Malavika's parents decided to take her too to their house. Pradeep also informed Saba's father Abdu Rahiman, an Ayurveda doctor in Agatti, of the matter.
Soon, when the Ramzan month began and Sabah began her fast, Malavika’s family decided to join her. Incidentally, everyone also celebrated Sabah's birthday on May 3.
“I’ve felt like home all the 40-odd days I have spent at Malavika’s house,” says Sabah.
Meanwhile, Muhammed Faizal, the Member of Parliament representing Lakshadweep, congratulated Pradeep's family for the gesture.
