Pazhayannur (Thrissur): A bar hotel in Pazhayannur in Kerala's Thrissur district on Friday witnessed unruly scenes hitherto unheard of in Kerala.
It all started when two machete-wielding, drunk, bear-chested men descended at the Raj Regency Hotel around 11pm. They unleashed four German Shepherds into the crowd. The dogs ran amok, scaring the boozers away. Hundreds of glasses and beer bottles were broken in the commotion. Even as the melee continued, the men stabbed hotel employees, destroyed computers and furniture at will.
The assailants fled the hotel minutes before police arrived. They are still at large. The attackers are believed to be professional dog trainers.
Revenge attack
A few hours before the attack, the two were involved in a heated argument with the hotel staff over non-payment of the booze bill.
The two men began their drinking session at 4pm. When the staff asked them to clear the dues of Rs 950 before placing further order, they said they did not have any money. A scuffle broke and the staff sent off the duo after confiscating their mobile phones.
The two men came back to the hotel two hours later – with machetes and four German Shepherds - to exact revenge on the staff
Chef Subash, 45, a native of Odisha, waiter Krishnan Kutty, 45, and security personnel Radhakrishnan, 55, were injured in the attack.
Circle Inspector of Police M Mahendra Sinha said probe has been intensified to nab the accused.
