KSRTC fast services to cover only 2 districts hereafter

Thiruvananthapuram: The new guidelines issued to restrict the reach of KSRTC's 'Fast Passenger' (FP) services will prove to be a burden to passengers. Super-class services, which will eventually replace the FP service, will cut down travel time but may substantially increase expenses incurred by passengers.

From Thursday, FP buses will limit services within two districts, compared to five now. The existing long-distance services will be terminated and new shorter services will be scheduled on busy routes.

This change is expected to worsen travel conditions since the KSRTC has limited buses for long-distance services. However, it has planned to operate shorter services between districts every 15 minutes on busy routes.

The new arrangement is a move aimed to clear the huge debts incurred by the KSRTC. Frequent FP services were unprofitable and responsible for dragging down the revenue of the transport corporation.
