Thiruvananthapuram: The capital city is gearing up for the 63rd Kerala School Kalolsavam, which will begin on January 4. The event will commence with the Director of General Education hoisting the flag at 9 am at the main venue, Central Stadium.
Registrations for the festival will begin on January 3 at 10 am at S M V Higher Secondary School here. Separate counters will be set up for each of the 14 districts. Transportation will be provided to participants arriving at railway stations and bus stands. Vehicles from various districts will be marked with special identification stickers.
The Golden Cup procession started in Kasaragod and will arrive in Thiruvananthapuram on January 3. After receiving receptions at various schools, the procession will reach PMG by 5 pm, where Minister V Sivankutty will receive the Golden Cup. The procession will then proceed to Central Stadium.
The official inauguration of the festival will begin at 10 am at the M T—Nila stage in Central Stadium, with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan presiding over the ceremony. Minister for General Education V Sivankutty will chair the event, and Principal Secretary of General Education Rani George will deliver the welcome address. Ministers G R Anil, K Rajan, A K Saseendran, Roshy Augustine, K N Balagopal, and 29 other chief guests will attend the event.
The cultural programme will feature a welcome song by Sreenivasan Thuneri, choreographed by Kavalam Sreekumar, performed by students of Kalamandalam and public schools. Students from Vellarmala GHSS, Wayanad, will perform a group dance. Following the inauguration, the Mohiniyattam competition for high school girls will take place.
Competitions will be held across 24 venues on the first day, with 25 venues in total. Central Stadium will be the main venue, and the stages are named after prominent Kerala rivers. The competitions will be broadcast live on the Kite Victers channel, with digital screens displaying results at each venue. The Utsavam mobile app, available on the Play Store, will provide live updates.
