New Delhi: The Union Government will establish a state-of-the-art lab at Kozhikode that will offer foundational education and advanced training in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
According to Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for IT and Electronics, a sanction for establishing the lab, being launched as part of the AI Data Lab Scheme, has already been given. The project, initiated under the India AI Mission, aims to set up similar labs in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and polytechnics across tier-2 and tier-3 cities in India
These data labs can offer diploma and degree programs in AI technology with central assistance. The lab will comprise cutting-edge tools and technology to support research and education in AI. The focus area of training include coding, data analysis, machine learning, robotics, and more, supported by advanced hardware and software. Training will be facilitated by experienced professionals to ensure quality education and skill development.
The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology, New Delhi is the nodal agency for the project. The first AI Data Lab, already operational at NIELIT, will serve as the model for future labs across the country. The Union IT Ministry has already invited expressions of interest from the states for establishing the AI Data Labs.
