Pilot training in Thiruvananthapuram: Applications open until August 30

Applications are now open for the Pilot Training Programme at the Rajiv Gandhi Academy for Aviation Technology in Thiruvananthapuram. Managed by the Kerala government and approved by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), this prestigious programme offers a Commercial Pilot License with an Instrument Rating. Interested candidates can submit their applications by post until August 30.

Eligibility criteria

General category: Applicants must have completed Plus Two or an equivalent qualification with at least 50% overall marks and a 55% aggregate in Mathematics, Physics, and English.

SC/ST category: Applicants must have at least 45% overall marks and a 50% aggregate in the three subjects.

Candidates should be at least 17 years old as of April 1, 2024, and must meet the health standards required for pilot training. The course duration is three months.

Training fees

  • Single-engine Training: Rs. 35,35,000, payable in five instalments.
  • Commercial Pilot License with Multi-engine Endorsement: An additional Rs. 6,75,000 (plus taxes) for 15 hours of extra flying time.

Selection process
1. Written test:
The test will consist of objective questions on General English, Mathematics, Physics, Geography, Reasoning (IQ), General Aviation, and Psychology at the Plus Two level. SC/ST candidates will receive a 5% relaxation in the cut-off marks. The exam center will be announced later.

2. Interview:
Shortlisted candidates based on their written test scores will be called for an interview. If the number of applicants is low, selection may be based solely on the interview.

Candidates can download the application form from the Academy's website. The completed form, along with the necessary documents and a bank draft of Rs. 5,000, should be sent to the Academy by post. The bank draft must be made in favour of the Executive Vice Chairman, Rajiv Gandhi Academy for Aviation Technology, Thiruvananthapuram.
