Saintgits College wins ISRO’s best performer award for National Space Day events

Kottayam: Saintgits College of Engineering, Kottayam, has been recognized with the Best Performer Award by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in the category of Engineering Colleges under zone 7 (Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep) for its outstanding efforts in organizing events related to National Space Day 2024.

Dr Reebu Zachariah Koshy, Dr Suresh Babu M, Dr Reenu Elizabeth John, and Anusree P G received the award from Union Minister Suresh Gopi during a ceremony held on August 18.

The award was granted for the exemplary contribution of Saintgits in creating awareness on National Space Day, India's space achievements and the Chandrayaan-3 mission. The event, themed "Touching Lives While Touching the Moon: India's Space Saga," was held under the guidance of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on August 8. Dr Sudha T, Principal inaugurated the programme.

The Saintgits Astronomy Club coordinated various competitions and activities highlighting India's space missions, including student paintings, science fiction short stories, astro-photographs, rocket model making, quiz competitions, and seminar competitions. The highlight was a spirited National Space Day awareness rally, with students and faculty promoting space exploration
