Touching the moon: Saintgits College honours India's space legacy ahead of National Space Day

Kottayam: Saintgits College of Engineering, Kottayam, conducted an awareness programme ahead of the National Space Day that falls on August 23.
The theme of the event held on Thursday (August 8) was 'Touching Lives While Touching the Moon: India's Space Saga'. It was held under the guidance of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Dr Sudha T, Principal inaugurated the programme.

The day-long event featured various competitions and activities highlighting India's space missions, including student paintings, science fiction short stories, astro-photographs, rocket model making, quiz competitions, and seminar competitions. The highlight was a spirited National Space Day awareness rally, with students and faculty promoting space exploration. The Saintgits Astronomy Club coordinated the events. Cash awards and certificates were distributed to the winners of the competitions.

Prominent attendees included director Thomas T John, executive chairman Punnoose George, MCA director Mini Punnose, chief digital officer Dr Naveen Punnose, associate director Dr Reebu Zachariah Koshy, vice principal Dr Roji George, dean research Dr M D Mathew, dean academics Dr Soosan George T, associate dean Dr Sreejith C C, astronomy club coordinator Sinumol P S, student coordinator Emil John Sabu, Dr Suresh Babu M, Dr Reenu Elizabeth John, MG Isaac, Haritha Krishnan and Anusree P G.
