New Delhi: Kottayam has emerged as the third-best performing city in NEET-UG 2024, according to data released by the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducted the test. Sikar in Rajasthan secured the top position, followed by Kota, another city in the state. The NEET-UG is the qualifying exam for admissions to medical and allied courses in India. Rajkot in Gujarat and Rohtak in Haryana are other cities where a high number of candidates scored 600-plus marks. NTA authorities attributed the high success rate in these locations to the significant presence of entrance coaching centers.

At Chinmaya Vidyalaya in Kottayam, 10.4 percent of the 386 students who took NEET-UG scored above 600 out of 720 marks. The highest score in this school was 701, with two other students scoring 700. Eleven students scored between 650 and 699 marks, and 26 students scored between 600 and 649.

At Vidyananda Vidya Bhavan in Vazhoor, Kottayam, 8.2 percent of the 182 students who appeared for NEET-UG scored above 600.

At Baselius Junior English Medium School in Pampady, 20 of the 183 students who took the test scored above 600, which is 11 percent.
