From reel to real: Sunny Joseph shares cinematic wisdom to film enthusiasts of Saintgits Literary Club

Kottayam: Students of the Literary Club at Saintgits College of Engineering, Kottayam, had the unique opportunity to attend Celluloid, a film festival organized by Girideepam College, Kottayam. The festival served as a significant platform for aspiring filmmakers to delve into the world of cinema. A standout feature of the event was an insightful session with Sunny Joseph, a renowned cinematographer and director, who shared his extensive knowledge and experience with the students.

Sunny Joseph, a distinguished figure in Indian cinema, has a prolific career spanning over 50 films. His contributions to iconic movies such as 'Manichitrathazhu' and 'Piravi' have cemented his reputation for technical brilliance and artistic vision. His filmography includes notable works like 'Theertham,' 'Ore Thooval Pakshikal,' 'Ottayal Pattalam,' 'Vasthuhara,' and 'Train to Pakistan,' among others.

During the session, Joseph emphasized the critical elements of storytelling, creativity, and technical expertise in cinematography. He underscored the role of cinema as a unifying force, capable of bringing people together irrespective of their backgrounds. "Art is meant to bring people together. In a cinema theatre, the audience sits unified with one mind, without distinctions of caste or religion. This unity and love should be reflected in life," he stated. He urged students to pursue their passions with dedication and to constantly seek innovation.
