The Manorama School of Communication (MASCOM) at Erayilkadavu, Kottayam, is now accepting applications for its 10-month Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism program. Applications for admission are accepted online until May 10 with an application fee of Rs. 500. For offline applications, candidates should download the form, fill it out and submit it with a bank draft of Rs. 500, payable in Kottayam, in the name of MASCOM. Students have the option to specialise in either English or Malayalam. Eligible applicants include those with a university degree in any subject, including students who have taken their final exams and are awaiting results. Prospects should have a good academic record, a keen interest in current affairs, strong persuasive writing skills, and a passionate commitment to a career in journalism.

The total course fee is Rs. 1,25,000, which can be paid in two instalments of Rs. 75,000 and Rs. 50,000, respectively. An additional 18% GST is applicable. The curriculum includes not just classroom studies but also field trips, interactions with eminent personalities, and training in language skills, reporting, editing, speed writing, lab journalism, news bulletins, computer use, anchoring, videography, digital journalism, and more. Practical activities such as the production of a daily newspaper, documentaries, and studio-based programs are integral to the course. Graduates from previous batches have achieved successful placements.

Online examination scheduled for May
As part of the selection process, there will be an online written test on May 19. The examination will be conducted in English and Malayalam, evaluating candidates on language proficiency and general knowledge. Those who perform well will be invited for an online interview in the first week of June, followed by the final selection process.
