Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellowships are awarded in subjects such as economics, environmental science/studies, higher education administration, international affairs, international legal studies, journalism, mass communication, public administration, public health, urban and community planning and women/gender studies for two years to secure post-graduation from colleges and universities in the United States of America.

Selected candidates will receive a J-1 exchange visa, travel expenses, tuition fees, living expenses and insurance cover during the period of study. Applicants should have a four-year bachelor’s degree or post-graduate degree which is equivalent to an American bachelor’s degree, from a recognized Indian university with a minimum of 55% marks. They also must have experience in a leadership position and community service. Another condition is that applicants should not possess a degree from another American university. They should stick to all requirements regarding approval from the current employer. In fact, the employer has to certify that the applicant would be allowed leave during the fellowship period.

Fulbright-Nehru Postdoctoral fellowships

Researchers based in India can apply for the Postdoctoral Fellowship program in the US. Under this program, opportunities will be given to early career researchers and faculty in India to improve their research skills. The fellowships will enable selected Indian researchers to develop long-term relations with universities in America.

The selected researchers need to produce an invitation specifying the period of research from a research institution in the US. Benefits for the selected candidate include J-1 visa support, monthly stipend, health insurance, round-trip flight tickets, professional allowance, dependent allowance and international travel.

The requirements for being considered for the postdoctoral fellowship include a PhD or DM degree, four-year graduate degree, a recent publication, consent of the present employer and order sanctioning leave.

They have to upload a copy of the published paper/article on the online app which does not exceed 30 pages. A certificate from the employer indicating that the applicant would be granted leave during the period of fellowship also must be submitted. Researchers working on projects which have financial aid from the government should obtain approval from their allied institutions in India.
