The Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC) will soon issue recruitment notifications for the gazetted rank posts of Block Development Officer (BDO) and Local Self Government Department Secretary (LSGD).

All graduates can appear for the selection tests, which include preliminary and main examinations. The questions will be of civil service exam standards since the recruitment is for gazetted posts. There are only a few vacancies as well. Only if a candidate features in the first 100 ranks is there any chance for them to be selected. The exams will be held in three months from the date of notification. The candidates need to start their preparations as soon as possible.

The syllabus covers various fields in detail, including Kerala History, Indian History, World History, Kerala/Indian Geography, India and the World Economy, Indian Polity, Arts, Sports, Literature, Current Affairs, IT and Computer Science, Science and Technology, Mathematics & Mental Ability, and General English and Malayalam.
A candidate needs to prepare in depth in all areas of study to stand any chance of selection. They can study using the Civil Service training guides, NCERT textbooks, and those published by PSC Bulletin.
