K-TET: No relaxation of marks for Economically Weaker Sections of forward communities

Thiruvananthapuram: The State Government has decided not to grant any relaxation in the minimum qualifying marks of the Kerala Teachers Eligibility Test (K-TET) to Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) among forward communities.

However, candidates from the Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe categories and other backward categories will be provided a relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum qualifying marks.

Earlier, the High Court had directed the government to take a final decision with regard to petitions filed before it, seeking the same benefits for EWS sections as well.

What the authorities took into consideration was that no such relaxation is being extended to EWS categories in the C-TET exam, the teacher eligibility test for appointment in Central Syllabus schools.

Every year, over one lakh candidates appear for the K-TET examination.
