The Council of Architecture which is the regulatory authority for Architecture education in India has published the revised admission criteria for the five-year Bachelor of Architecture (B Arch) course. The revised minimum eligibility for B Arch admissions will be effective from June 19, 2023.
The seats that become vacant this year can be filled as per the new criteria. As a result, the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) will be conducted on September 17, yet again.

The changes
The amendments in the minimum eligibility criteria for admission are:
As per the eligibility criteria so far a candidate who has cleared NATA must have scored at least 50 per cent marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry together and as aggregate for the Plus-Two examination. Those who have scored 50 per cent in a three-year diploma with Maths as a subject were also eligible.
But as per the revised norms a candidate must have passed Higher Secondary with at least 45 per cent total marks, in mandatory subjects of Physics and Mathematics, besides any one optional in the vocational subjects: Chemistry, Biology, Technical/Vocational subject, Computer Science, IT, Informatics Practices, Engineering Graphics or Business Studies. Students with 50 per cent total marks in the three-year diploma with Mathematics are also eligible.
The candidate must have also cleared the NATA or JEE Architecture aptitude test. The Council of Architecture website is www.coa.gov.in.
