New Delhi: The next Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE), which is the national-level eligibility exam for higher studies in engineering, will take place on February 3, 4, 10 and 11, 2024.
The results will be published on March 16 and the scores will be valid for three years. Applications for the test will be accepted possibly from August 24.
Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, which is in charge of the conduct of the exam this time, announced that September 29 will be the last date to submit applications without a fine. Meanwhile, October 13 will be the last date to apply with a late fee.
Corrections may be carried out in the applications from November 7 to 11 and admit cards could be downloaded on January 3, 2024.

Test pattern
Tests will be conducted in 30 papers, including the recently introduced ‘Data Science & Artificial Intelligence’. Apart from engineering subjects, there are papers such as Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Statistics, Geology and Geophysics, Humanities and Social Science and Life Sciences.
Each candidate can take a maximum of two papers. The website has a list of second papers which could be attempted for each first paper chosen.
JAM on February 11
Meanwhile, the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM), which enables admissions to masters’ programmes in Science in IITs and other institutions, will take place on February 11, 2014 in an online mode.
According to IIT Madras, which is conducting the test this year, registrations will start on September 5 and applications could be submitted till October 13.
There are 3,000 seats in programmes such MSc, MSc-MTech, Joint MSc-PhD dual degree, MSc-MTech dual degree and MSc Research in 21 IITs, including at Palakkad in Kerala. IISc, Bengaluru, and various National Institutes of Technology (NITs) also admit students based on JAM scores.
