Kottayam: CMS College and Horizon Motors have joined forces to organise a mini-marathon to spread awareness on the need to combat drug addiction. The event is set to kick off at 7 am on August 15, 2023.
The starting point for the mini-marathon is Horizon Motors, near Matha Hospital, at Thellakom on the outskirts of Kottayam town. The marathon will culminate at CMS College.
The organisers are aiming to create a powerful visual statement against drug use by holding the mini-marathon. Their mission is to promote a drug-free society.
The mini-marathon isn't just about promoting a vital cause; it's also an opportunity to celebrate athleticism and dedication. Both men and women participants will compete separately for the top prizes: a substantial Rs 25,000 for the first place, Rs 10,000 for the runner-up, and Rs 5,000 for the third position.
An award awaits the participant aged 50 and above who finishes first. Other top-performers in this category will be honored with special trophies, recognising their zest for a healthy lifestyle.
The organisers have decided to allocate the online registration fee of Rs 100 to procure wheelchairs for differently abled individuals.
The race itself will be led by a dynamic blend of participants. The NSS and NCC units of CMS College, its teachers as well as employees of Horizon Motors are poised to lead the way. Medical support during the marathon will be handled by Caritas Hospital, Thellakom.
Early registration is advised if you wish to be part of the mini-marathon. The first 500 individuals to register will secure their place in the event.
