The deadline to submit options for this year’s admissions to MBBS and BDS courses in Kerala is 10 am on July 31. Candidates who have found a place on the rank-list published by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala, based on NEET-UG scores can submit the options on the website www.cee.kerala.gov.in.
Subsequently, the first-round provisional seat allotment list will be published on August 2 and the first-round final allotment list on August 3.
Candidates who have received selection should pay the fees mentioned in the allotment memo online or at a head post office in Kerala from August 5 and obtain admission at the college before 4 pm on August 8. The colleges will submit the list of students who took admission to the CEE at 5 pm on August 8.
The CEE’s notification has the list of 12 government medical colleges, 18 self-financing medical colleges, six government dental colleges and 20 self-financing dental colleges for which admissions are conducted.
Seat distribution
Seats will be distributed as follows after setting apart 15-percent All-India Quota, as well as seats for Central Government nominees, minority candidates, NRIs, differently abled and special reservation categories.
State merit seats 50%, Economically Weaker Section 10%, Ezhava 9%, Muslims 8%, Other Backward Hindu 3%, Latin Catholic & Anglo-Indian 3%, Dheevara 2%, Viswakarma 2%, Kusava 1%, Other Backward Christian 1%, Kudumbi 1%, Scheduled Caste 8%, and Scheduled Tribe 2 %.
However, in Government Medical College, Palakkad, 70 percent of the seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates and in Government Medical College Kollam at Parippally, 35-percent of the seats are allotted by the Central Government for dependents of employees insured under the ESI.
Those who are seeking NRI seats in minority colleges also have to submit options now. Candidates based outside Kerala will be considered for NRI seats only if there are not sufficient numbers of Keralites. At the same time, any Indian citizen, irrespective of their native place, can opt for seats in the 15-percent All-India quota in self-financing colleges.
Registration fees
An option registration fee of Rs 5,000 has to be paid online or at head post offices to the CEE before submitting the options. The amount is Rs 500 for Scheduled Caste/Tribe and other eligible categories. While Rs 5,000 will be accounted for in the tuition fee during admission, Rs 500 will be adjusted in the caution deposit for the respective categories.
The amount will be refunded to candidates who fail to get allotment.
Candidates receiving allotment in government colleges have to pay the full fees in favour of the CEE. For self-financing colleges, the amount mentioned in the allotment memo has to be paid.
Scheduled/OEC/Juvenile/Nirbhaya Home category candidates are exempted.
Options mandatory
Before submitting options, study the instructions on pages 67-73 in the prospectus. Parents should guide candidates in choosing the options and utmost care has to be taken.
Once a candidate is allotted a higher option, he or she will not be given a lower one later. For example, if the higher option is a self-financing college with high fees, the candidate will not be allotted a seat in a government college charging low fees even if eligible, when the option is placed below.
It should be noted that candidates will be excluded from the system if options are not submitted on time and admissions are not taken at the college.
Candidates who need help to submit the options can approach the facilitation centres.
