Several top technological institutes in the country have invited applications for programmes in Master of Technology (M Tech), Masters in Architecture (M Arch) and Masters in Planning (M Plan).
These courses are conducted by National Institutes of Technology (NIT), select Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur, and technical institutes functioning with Central government funds for the year 2023.
Selection will take place based on the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) score and registrations could be done till 11:59 pm on June 24.
The website to check the list of institutions taking part in the admission process is https://ccmt.admissions.nic.in
Things to note
Candidates will be allotted an institution and seat through a centralised counselling (CCMT-2023) having three regular rounds, two special rounds and a national spot round (final mop-up). (CCMT denotes Centralised Counseling for M Tech, M Arch and M Plan.)
Students need to submit only one application for admissions to any post-graduate programme in the institutions covered by the counselling process. However, apply only after thoroughly going through the information brochure and FAQ on the website.
During choice-filling, lock each choice immediately. Otherwise, the choices submitted last will get automatically locked. A candidate can give any number of choices and would be considered for all eligible seats.
Details of various fees are given in the brochure. They include registration fee, seat acceptance fee, partial admission fee, special round registration fee, special round participation fee, national spot round registration fee and national spot round participation fee.
Cut-off marks
Candidates should have secured 6.5/10 Grade Point Average or 60 per cent marks in the qualifying exam. The cut-off for Scheduled Castes/Tribes and differently abled students is 6/10 or 55 per cent. They should also have a GATE score from 2021, 2022 or 2023.
Final-year degree students also can apply. However, their exams have to be over by August 15 and they have to submit their degree certificates by September 30.
Ranking
Applicants will be ranked based on their GATE score. There are guidelines to award separate ranks for candidates who have obtained identical GATE scores. Reservation norms under Central government rules will be applied.
Allotments
Candidates receiving an allotment should make one among these three choices after submitting the seat acceptance fee:
• Float: Willing to be considered for higher choices in subsequent rounds, including change of institution.
• Slide: Willing for higher choices, but in the same institution.
• Freeze: No change needed.
Alterations could be made later in the choices based on some conditions. However, candidates allotted a higher choice in a subsequent allotment should have to compulsorily shift to new to the new seat as the old seat would be allotted to another student.
There is no registration or choice-filling in the second round. However, fresh registration will be allowed in the special round, subject to conditions.
Counselling
Each institution will verify the original documents of the students in online mode. The document verification certificate will be available online.
The schedule of the counselling and fee structure of each programme in all institutions are given on the website.
This year, the centralised counselling is carried out by NIT, Kurukshetra.
