The deadline to apply for the ‘Ward of Insured Person Certificate’ required to avail reservation in MBBS and BDS courses in medical and dental colleges under the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) and in some government colleges is 11:59 pm on Wednesday. The certificate will be available on the website by May 19.
Applicants can check ‘Ward of IP certificate link’ on the website https://www.esic.gov.in.
Children of people who have Employees’ State Insurance cover are eligible for reservation in admission. To secure this quota, the former has to submit the Ward of Insured Person Certificate which is often referred to as the IP Certificate.
Applicants should have qualified in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate), 2023.
ESI quota
To avail the ESI quota student’s age should not exceed 21 years as on April 15, 2023. Female students are exempted from this condition.

Admissions to the ESI seats are separate from all-India and state quotas. At the national-level, the seats are in the common pool.
In Kerala, the Government Medical College, Parippally, in Kollam has 38 MBBS seats in the ESI quota. At the national-level, the number of MBBS seats falling under the ESI quota is 437. The ESI seats in the other medical colleges are: Faridabad 43; Kolkata 65; Chennai 25; Bengaluru 56; Gulbarga 56; Hyderabad 43; Alwar – Rajasthan 20; Patna 35; Coimbatore 20 and Mandi 36.
In addition, there are 28 BDS seats in Gulbarga.
The annual tuition fee for these seats is Rs 24,000 which should be submitted to the college as bank draft during admission. There is no capitation fee. The fee is Rs 12,000 in the fifth year. Other fees such as hostel fees are charged in addition to this amount. Students also should sign a bond for Rs 5 lakh.
Fees at Kollam and Mandi colleges have to be paid as specified by the institutions. Female applicants should be unmarried and dependent on their insured parents. Separate affidavits have to be submitted in this regard by the student and parent.
