Thiruvananthapuram: Grace marks for sportspersons who pass the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) and higher secondary Plus Two exams have been revised once again.
Those who finish first at the international competitions will get 100 marks as grace marks. The second-placed will fetch 90 marks and the third-placed 80 marks, while 75 marks will be awarded for participation.
Those who finish first at the national level will get 50 marks, the second place 40 marks, and the third prize 30 marks while participation will ensure 25 marks.
The scaling down of grace marks of sportspersons had invited protests. Medal winners in international competitions were entitled to a maximum of 30 marks as per the changes announced last month. This has now been raised to 100 marks.
The grace marks for Scouts and Guides, too, have been restored. It is 25 marks at the Higher Secondary level; 40 for winning Rajyapuraskar or Chief Minister’s Shield; 50 for President’s Scouts and Guides and NSS members; and 40 for volunteers who take part in the Republic Day camp.
The changes will be applicable for this academic year only. In the next academic year, the Government will set up a special committee to reevaluate and fix the grace marks.
