Applications are invited for the 2023 – 25 doctoral / post doctoral fellowships provided by the CICT which comes under the aegis of the central Ministry of Education. •Doctoral Fellowship – The candidate should be a full tile PhD scholar at a university or a research institute. The research should be based on one of the 41 classical texts prescribed by the institute. Besides, it should focus on an era before the sixth century.
The applicants should have passed post graduation in Languages, Phonetics or in related subjects like Anthropology, Sociology, Education, Archaeology, Epigraphy, Musicology, Performing Arts, Folklore and Philosophy with at least 55% marks. Meanwhile, candidates belonging to the scheduled categories require 50% marks. They should not be over 30 years as on 1 April 2023. It is 33 and 35 years respectively for backward / scheduled communities.
A proposal report of at least fifteen pages should be submitted. Reservations are available as per the guidelines. The selected candidates would get Rs 30,000 per month for two years and an annual grant of Rs 18,000.
• Post – Doctoral Fellowship – The candidates should be PhD holders in Languages, Phonetics or in related subjects like Anthropology, Sociology, Education, Archaeology, Epigraphy, Musicology, Performing Arts, Folklore or Philosophy. Besides, the research should be based on one of the 41 texts prescribed by the institute. Moreover, it should focus on an era before the sixth century.
Those who do not speak Tamil or hasn’t studied Tamil in college should produce a certificate stating that they are proficient in the language.
The candidates shouldn’t be over 40 years as on 1 April 2023. Meanwhile, it is 43 and 45 years respectively for backward and scheduled communities.
The selection would be based on the fifteen page proposal report submitted by the applicant. Reservation benefits are available as per the guidelines. The research should be conducted at the institute’s campus in Chennai. Selected candidates will get Rs 50,000 per month for two months and annual grant of Rs 30,000.
