Applications for admissions to Classes 6-9 can be submitted until 5pm on November 30 via https://aissee.nta.nic.in. The application fee of Rs 650 can be paid online till 11.50 pm on November 30. For Scheduled groups, the fee is Rs 500, exclusive of banking charges.
The entrance test (AISSEE – 2023) is scheduled to be conducted on January 8. Examination centres in Kerala – Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Kozhikode. There will be no negative marks for wrong answers. The candidate must get at least 25 per cent marks in each subject and an overall 40 per cent. For scheduled groups, there are no minimum mark criteria.
The exams for admission to Class 6 will be from 2 pm to 4.30 pm and that for Class 9 will be from 2 pm to 5 pm. The exam for Class 6 can be written in Malayalam or English, while latter can be written only in English.
Sixty-seven per cent of seats in each school are for candidates from the same State or Union Territory. The remaining 33 per cent of seats are for students from other parts of the country. Only one general application is required for all schools.
The reservation pattern - 15 per cent for Scheduled caste, 7.5 per cent for Scheduled tribes, 27 per cent for Backward communities – will be followed.
Of the 90 seats at Kazhakkoottam Sainik school, 80 are for boys and 10 for girls in Class 6. In Class 9, there are 17 seats. The students from Kerala can also try for admission to the other 32 Sainik schools across the country.
The age of applicants to Class 6 must be 10- 12 years as on March 31 2023. For Class 9, the age must be 13 – 15 years.
Apart from this, there are 18 new Sainik Schools approved by the Defence Ministry. Kozhikode Malapparamba Vedavyasa Vidyalayam is one among these 18 schools run in cooperation with the State Government or private institutions. Only Class 6 admissions are allowed to these schools. Seat division: 40 per cent of seats are at the national level, while 60 per cent is at the school level.
A school-level selection will be held for those students who are already studying in any of these 18 schools, based on the ranks of the applicants at these schools. During counselling, the student can choose any of the approved schools. Those who are interested in joining these schools need to submit a general application for the same.
