New Delhi: The All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) announced that it would consider admitting persons who have dropped out of the National Defence Academy due to health-related issues, to technical courses including engineering. Such candidates could be given lateral entry.
This facility would be available only for those who were unable to continue their training despite getting admitted to NDA or the Indian Naval Academy due to health issues. There are institutions that offer courses in engineering, management, applied arts, hotel management and planning that are affiliated with the AICTE.
As per the latest instruction, those who drop out of the academies during the second year of training can join a technical course, in the second year itself, without losing an academic year. Currently, the NDA has entered into contracts with a few institutes that allow lateral entries. The candidates who drop out of the academies can only resume their education at these institutes.
