The Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET) is a premier institute offering studies on plastics under the auspices of Union Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. Headquartered in Chennai, the institute has 28 centres including in Kochi, Madurai, Mysuru and Hyderabad.
The applications for some of the courses at CIPET could be submitted until 5 June. The admission fee is Rs 500. It is only Rs 250 for applicants from Scheduled Caste/Tribe communities.
The computer-based Joint Entrance Test has been scheduled on 19 June. The location of the exam centres would be announced later.

Programmes, eligibility, fees
Diploma in Plastic Technology/Plastics Mould Technology (DPMT): Those who have passed Class-10 can apply for this 3 year course. The semester fee is Rs 16,700.
Post Diploma in Plastic Moulds Design with CAD/CAM (PD-PMD): The course lasts for one-and-a-half years. The applicants need to have a 3-year full-time Diploma in Mechanical/Plastics/ Polymer/ Tool/ Production/Mechatronics/Automobile/Tool & Die Making/ Petrochemicals/Industrial/ Instrumentation Engg Technology or DPMT/DPT or equivalent. The semester fee for this course is Rs 20,000.
Post-Graduate Diploma in Plastic Processing and Testing (PGD-PPT): The course lasts for 2 years. The applicants need to have graduation in Science subjects. The semester fee is Rs 20,000. Those who are awaiting the results of final-years exams of the qualifying degree too can apply.
