The Government of India has been aiming to increase the enrollment of girls and women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) courses. In the last five years over 2 crore girls and women joined for such courses across the country.
There are many projects and scholarships aimed to bring more women into the field of science research, by providing financial assistance and other facilities.
‘Back to Lab’ is one such programme that provides assistance for women who wishes to pursue or return to research.
Interested candidates may apply for this post-doctoral fellowship programme by the Kerala government, until 15 February.

Successful applicants can undertake research in science subjects at a centre in Kerala or any other prime institute outside the state.
Eligibility
The candidate should be a woman who is settled in Kerala and is currently unemployed. Moreover, she must be someone whose research had been dropped midway.
The age of the candidate shouldn’t exceed 40 years. However, it could be 43/45 years for Other Backward Class and Scheduled Caste/Tribe candidates, respectively.
The applicant should have attained Post-Graduation and Phd with at least 60 marks. They should at least have one publication or a patent at the time of application.
The fellowship
The fellowship is for two years.
Selected candidates would get Rs 45,000 as fellowship amount, 10% of house rent and Rs 75,000 as a yearly grant.
