Thiruvananthapuram: Admissions to higher-secondary schools in Kerala will commence from next week.
Eligible students may start applying for Plus-Two classes from August 16, Education Minister V Sivankutty announced in the Kerala Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.
Quota limit
Last academic year 58% of the available seats in Plus-One classes were reserved for specific communities. However, the Supreme court had declared that the reservations shouldn’t go beyond 50%.
The State government has decided to review the overall quota for Plus-One course in light of the apex court stricture. The education minister has handed over a file to the Chief Minister in this regard.
The Kerala Legislative Assembly is set to discuss on this on Wednesday.
Reservations for Plus-Two courses had gone well past the 50% mark ever since the reservations were in place for the economically backward classes too.
