The Public Service Commission (PSC) has decided to issue notifications for 35 more posts even as COVID-19 prevents it from taking further action on a notification it had issued earlier for 200 posts.
A meeting of the PSC decided to issue the notification to provide opportunities for candidates who have reached the age limits for the posts despite the disease making the conduct of examination and other procedures for PSC appointments difficult.
The notifications will be for assistant professors in family medicine, cardiology, nephrology, reproductive medicine, cardiovascular and thoracic surgery and orthopaedics; assistant professors in Malayalam, Sanskrit, Social Studies, Mathematics (transfer); agronomist; scientific officers in biology, physics, and chemistry; fisheries extension officer; fire and rescue officer (driver) and other posts.
A notification will be issued for the posts of statistical assistant grade 2 / statistical investigator grade 2 at the district level. There will also be a notification for state and district-level NCA recruitment.
After the high court's verdict that it is illegal not to allow higher secondary teachers to apply to the Kerala Administrative Service (KAS), the PSC will decide on the future course of action after getting the order copy.
Due to the rapid spread of COVID, the postal, email and e-vacancy system for accepting and notifying vacancies will continue till December 31, the commission said.
With the government deciding to abolish the post of village extension officer, the further process for the preparation of the rank list has slowed down.
