The Jamia Millia Islamia University in Delhi is providing a golden opportunity for civil service aspirants. The Centre for Coaching and Career Planning under the university is conducting a free civil service course, which includes excellent coaching and hostel facilities.
The intake would be 150 for the one-year course. Moreover, 20% of the candidates will get a monthly scholarship of Rs 2,000. Jamia’s own faculty as well as experts from other institutions would conduct the classes.
Students would be selected based on an entrance test. Thiruvananthapuram is one among the 12 centres. Highlights of the course include:
» Students from minority and SC/ST communities and female students from all sections who have passed the degree exams can apply.
» General studies / optional papers, model tests and writing practice are part of the curriculum.
» Model tests for prelims will start in January 2020.
» Mains model exams are from September 2020
» Coaching will be given during all stages of the exam
» 24 x 7 library facility is available
» All the 150 candidates selected can avail hostel facility

» Apart from Thiruvananthapuram, there are exam centres at Delhi, Srinagar, Jammu, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Mumbai, Lucknow, Guwahati, Patna, Bengaluru and Chennai.
» The exam will have General Studies objective paper in the Civil Service prelims model and a descriptive paper.
» There will be negative mark of – 0.3 for the objective exam
» Each paper is of 60 marks each, totaling 120 marks. The duration of the objective paper is one hour, while the descriptive exam is of two hours.
» Interview carries 30 marks
» In case several candidates score the same mark, preference will be given to those having more marks in the descriptive exam. If this mark is also the same, the interview score will be considered.
