Thiruvananthapuram: A Constitution Day celebration was held here on the Shanghumukham beach on November 26. The programme began at 7 pm with a pledge to protect the Constitution of India and later a human chain was formed on the beach.
Dr C R Prasad, Registar of the University of Kerala talked about the Constitution and the importance of holding such a day. The Kerala State Youth Commission and Kerala University Researcher’s union jointly organised the event. Around 300 students took part in the programme.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kerala Mahadevan Pillai and Pro Vice-Chancellor Ajayakumar participated in the function. The Vice-chairperson of Kerala Youth Commission Chintha Jerome was the main guest. Chintha talked about the fascism-like situation in India and the need to protect the Constitution.
The Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Divas, is celebrated on 26 November every year to commemorate the adoption of Constitution of India.
