Thiruvananthapuram: A workshop on Quality Assessment and Accreditation was held at the University of Kerala on Sunday. Justice P Sathasivam, Governor of Kerala, who inaugurated it stressed on the need for improving and enhancing the quality of higher education.

“Quality has become a matter of high concern. It has become a part of every sphere of activities especially in higher education," the Governor said.

He further pointed out that “the state-level workshop is organised to guide the educational institutions on the process of accreditation aimed to ensure the quality in higher education."

The workshop was jointly organised by University Grants Commission and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council in association with the University of Kerala.

NAAC officials, who conducted the sessions, discussed about the importance of accreditation and its various procedures.

The programme, held on October 15, began with a welcome speech by Prof C Ganesh. Prof S C Sharma, Director of NAAC, addressed the workshop and Dr M S Shyam Sundar, NAAC advisor, gave a short introduction to the programme.
