Mobile World Congress: here's what you should know

The largest annual exhibition in the communication industry, Mobile World Congress, attracts some of the best companies from mobile and technology industry. Here's all you need to know about this year's show.

What and Where

Mobile World Congress (MWC) takes place every year in Barcelona as a big show where new gadgets and products are announced. Tech giants from around the world will unveil their latest smartphones, accessories and tablets at the trade show. It is said that this year's tech extravaganza will have companies showing off innovations in areas such as artificial intelligence, robotics and virtual reality.

The trade show will take place in two halls in Barcelona: the Fira Gran Via and Fira Montjuic.

When

MWC 2017 which kicked off on February 27 will end on March 2 and will have leading companies like Samsung, Nokia, Blackberry, Sony, LG and more.

Major events at MWC so far

» Nokia relaunched a brightly colored version of the classic 3310 talk and text phone, the world's most popular device in the year 2000. The new model has bigger screens and is priced at just 49 euros ($52).

» BlackBerry unveiled a secure Android device, the KeyOne, launching in the U.S. in April for $549.

» LG launched the new G6 smartphone with a 5.7-inch display in a 5.2-inch body.

» Samsung too announced their latest tablets soon to be launched this year.

» Lenovo unveiled two new laptops Yoga 720 and Yoga 520 which has fingerprint scanners.

» Lenovo Moto launched its new mobile devices Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus with more efficient rapid charging facilities using its TurboPower charger.

» Sony unveiled four new smartphones- the Sony Xperia XA1, Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra smartphone, along with the XZ Premium and the Xperia XZs.

» Huawei’s too launched two new phones - P10 and P10 Plus.
