Sanju Samson led from the front with an unbeaten 33-ball 71 as Rajasthan Royals (RR) outplayed Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by seven wickets to move closer to the IPL 2024 playoffs at Lucknow on Saturday night. Sanju found an able ally in Dhruv Jurel (52 not out) as the two added 121 for the unbroken fourth wicket to take them home in 19 overs.
LSG made 196/5, with skipper K L Rahul making a 48-ball 76 and Deepak Hooda smashing 50 off 31 balls. Sandeep Sharma picked up 2/31 for Royals.
Though Jos Buttler (34) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (24) put on 60 for the opening wicket in quick time, RR slipped to 78/3 before Sanju and Jurel joined hands to script the turnaround.
RR are sitting pretty at the top of the table with 16 points from nine games, while LSG remain in fourth place with 10 points from nine outings. LSG next host Mumbai Indians on Tuesday, while RR travel to Hyderabad to clash with Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday.
